"And the Show has reached a new Low..." (SNL, Will Ferrill in Celebrity
Jeopardy)

Well... Today is the first day since the beginning of the prestigious World
Cup that no game is scheduled. Thats right, you've guessed it, we have
reached the quarterfinals, in which the 8 teams left in the tournament will
slug it out with each other to determine who will hold aloft the golden
trophy. The schedule promises some great matchups:

1) June 30th 8am PST Germany vs. Argentina (ESPN)

2) June 30th 12noon PST Italy vs. Ukraine (ESPN2)

3) July 1 8am PST England vs. Portugal (ABC)

4) 12noon PST Brazil vs. France (ESPN)

The Brazil/France game promises a rematch between the World Cup '98
finalists, in which the French stunned Brazil 3-0, with now Captain Zinedine
Zidane scoring twice. This could be the final match for the French Skipper,
who has already announced his retirement from international futbol following
the tournament.

Germany vs. Argentina also promises to be a great game. Both have gathered
momentum in the preceding rounds (Germany hasn't conceded a goal since the
opening match against Costa Rica), and either could easily go on to win the
tournament. I give the Germans the edge, though, since they ARE playing on
home soil.

But in conclusion, I would like to say that I will be cheering on the Limies
(that would be England) from here on out, it being my heritage and all.
