You are so right, Austin. Wilson did not say "slavery was a good thing." He said that the institution of slavery was not as bad as we thought that it was -- which is why he originally called the book "Southern Slavery AS IT WAS," suggesting that the story passed down through public schools was bogus.
He claimed that race relations were pretty good back then, as well
He also claimed that some instances of slavery -- instances of Christians holding non-Christians as slaves -- were morally justifiable.
Do you believe any of these ridiculous claims?
