[Vision2020] Our Captured GIs

Simple, dick -

Exit Strategy:

1) Prior to engaging in armed conflict, establish a purpose and/or goal.
(i.e. elimination of all WMD, ousting of dictatorship, etc. etc.)

2) Once the purpose is realized, or goal is achieved, gradually commence
withdrawal of forces from occupied country.

Simultaneously while identifying a purpose or goal (step #1), establish a
procedure for troop withdrawal.

This is an extreme "thumbnail" description of an "exit strategy". There are
a multitude of procedures within procedures within procedures within . . .
to effectively emplace such a strategy. Those procedures are the
responsibility of the big wigs that earn the big bucks.

Had there been an exit strategy in place in Iraq, I am certain that things
would have been accomplished and realized alot smoother, much like Hurricane
Katrina. Oops. Bad example.

So, tell me Tom Thumb, just what is your definition of "exit strategy"? I
am sick of hearing you libs go on and on about it but haven't, as yet, ever
heard one of you define what it is.

Bush has stated many times what the conditions need to be in Iraq before we
leave. Just because he refuses to put a hard date on our leaving does not
mean there is no exit strategy, it only means we are not going to give the
bad guys the huge advantage of knowing when our troops will pull out and let
them induce civil war.

Before you harp on about an exit strategy, how about letting the rest of us
know what you think it should be. I mean besides just a cut and run
calamity. Perhaps we should withdraw our troops to Okinawa, as Murtha
suggests. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Perhaps we should just run away
and allow Iran to induce a civil war and put Iraq under its control. Yeah,
that would be really smart wouldnn't it?

Let's hear it little Tom Tom, what would you do at this point. I am not
interested in hearing about the past, I want to know what you would do right
now.

Dick

dick, dick, dick -

Nick Gier NEVER criticized our troops. His anger is aimed at the management
of the war and how poorly it has been conducted, no "exit strategy" and all.

Instead of laying back in your easy chair, how about reading something once
in a while, like . . .

"Nick Knacks"

http://www.NickGier.com

Update: This morning's news is reporting that the bodies of those two
soldiers have been recovered. My thoughts and sympathies, as well as Nick
Gier's (I am certain) are with those soldiers' family.

I am curious as to the thoughts of people like Nick Gier regarding the two
American soldiers recently abducted from the road checkpoint south of
Baghdad. While Nick is quick to criticize the mission of our troops and
post every story detrimental to them and their mission here on the forum, I
have heard nothing from him about our two captured American GIs.

Wouldn't it be great if only we could hope these two soldiers would be
treated as well as those suspected terrorists at Gitmo? If they were, we
could be sure they were being sheltered and offered clean clothing and daily
food, of their own religious confection no less. We would know they were
being provided with Bibles and given time to pray to their God in Heaven.
We would know they had access to showers and toilet facilities and personal
toiletries.

The families of these soldiers would feel great relief if they only knew
their sons, brothers, fathers, and loved ones were going to be facing
interrogations backed up by anything as humane as sleep deprivation or
solitary confinement. Even the possibility of their loved ones having to
face barking dogs, a little personal humiliation or perhaps even being
stripped naked and forced to wear their underwear over their heads would be
a relief compared to the thoughts of what may well happen to these two
American soldiers if they are not found and freed soon.

Yes, I am curious what people like Nick Gier think of these young American
men. Do they believe they deserve what they get? After all, they
volunteered to serve in a military commanded by the great war criminal,
George Bush, himself! Surely, they knew they would be called upon to commit
war crimes of their own under such circumstances. Doesn't that make them
criminals in his mind as well? I can only imagine people like Gier
celebrating the demise of these fine young men. Oh sure, they talk about
supporting the troops but we all know that is hogwash. It is impossible to
support someone you believe is voluntarily committing war crimes and murder,
even if it is under orders. After all, they could have stayed home and
cowered down, like terrified chickens in the Methodist Church in Tacoma.

As for the rest of us, I hope we are all praying for their safe return home
to their families. I know that my entire family and I are. How about the
rest of you?

Dick S.
