My entire, much-extended, family lives in Southern Utah. They are not quite "westerners", nor
quite "southerners". While they pronounce "creek" as "crick", they also pronounce "stairs" as
"staars" and say "harse" which they spell "horse". However, even knowing this about Southern
Utahrds, on one visit there I was still surprised to see the movie marquee for "The Last
Unicarn".
Not unusual in my family to ride the harse to the groshry star to git sum carn fer dinner, after
asking "dju eet yet?" or saying "Ahm hongry. Les qweet!"
Not apologetic for my own lapses, just having a difficult time speaking coherently around the
Utah State vegetable---jello with carrots.....
There really is a reason I moved from Cedar City, Utah to Moscow, Idaho---most of it
linguistic....
