NEWS RELEASE
February 15, 2006
The City of Moscow's new Fields Planning Committee will hold its first
meeting on Wednesday, February 22, 6:30pm, at the Hamilton Indoor
Recreation Center (HIRC). The meeting is open to the public.
The Committee is charged with resolving issues concerning a proposed
youth ball field complex slated for West Palouse River Drive and after a
consensus are reached to bring an acceptable plan proposal back to the
City Council on April 3rd of this year.
The Fields Planning Committee was originally established in April 2003,
but was reconfigured last December by former Mayor Marshall Comstock
after area residents voiced concerns about the plan. On the table for
discussion is everything except location.
The newly reconfigured Committee is made up of four residents living in
the adjacent neighborhood and four citizens representing the various
youth sports. Various experts and staff are tasked to provide input as
the process moves forward. Longtime local Kay Keskinen, a certified
professional mediator, was hired to moderate and facilitate the
Committee meetings.
