I guess that this is what is meant by going in a complete circle.

Linehan Loses Assistant Holt to USC

By Bill Coats

Just when he thought he had his staff in place, new Rams head coach Scott
Linehan suddenly has an unexpected opening.

Nick Holt, who had resigned as head coach at the University of Idaho to
become Linehan's defensive line coach, did an about-face Tuesday. A day
after his appointment to the Rams' staff was announced, Holt accepted the
defensive coordinator's job at the University of Southern California.

Holt and Linehan, both 42, have been friends for years. They coached
together at Idaho and at Louisville. Holt told reporters in Idaho that he
turned down Linehan's first offer to come to St. Louis about two weeks ago
but changed his mind over the weekend. "It's an opportunity I just couldn't
turn down," he said.

But Holt changed his mind a second time and decided to join another former
colleague, Pete Carroll, at USC. Holt was the Trojans' linebackers coach for
three years before taking the head-coaching job at Idaho in 2003. His
Vandals teams went 5-18 over two seasons.

Take care, Moscow.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, a drink in the other, body thoroughly used
up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO. What a ride!'"
