A more appropriate analogy between WinCo and a cable/satellite TV company
would be:

If WinCo were to offer five various sack lunches ranging from a basic,
no-frills lunch (consisting of a quick-easily-made sandwich and a half-pint
carton of milk) at a cost of $1.50 to the 16-course, 4-star hungry-person's
gourmet special at a cost of $40.00.

For some people the basic lunch is all they care for. So they'll spend the
$1.50 and be satisfied.

Some people will prefer the hungry-person's gourmet special (with all it's
extras). So they'll spend the $40.00 and be just as satisfied.

And, yet, there are (more common than not) people that prefer a lunch
prepared to their specific taste. In this case, they may purchase the basic
lunch and hand-pick a few extra items. These "extra items" are individually
priced and tend to increase the amount of the final sale.

So, maybe, they decide to purchase the level #3 pre-packaged sack lunch with
more items than the basic sack lunch, yet not as many as the gourmet,
hungry-person's special at a cost of $19.95. The level #3 sack lunch
contains everything that meets their specific taste along with a fair amount
of extras.

Maybe the level #3 sack lunch contains, what the customer feels, is too many
"extras" and simply does not care for it. The customer may then decide to
create his/her own taste-oriented lunch and wander the aisles selecting each
and every item and finds that the self-designed lunch costs $23.75.

Now - Does this customer pay the $23.75, realizing that (s)he is purchasing
the lunch that (s)he wants with nothing more, nothing less? Or does (she
opt for the level #3 sack lunch, which contains everything (s)he wants and
some extras, which would save him/her $3.80.

Just some points to ponder.
