Sad isn't it, we don't recruit our own. I see one from Spokane. I am belatedly reading Friday Night Lights and wishing there were as much enthusiasm for other facets of university life. Haven't watched the tv series, but coming from San Angelo, Texas, I sure do identify with the book.
I do like football and really enjoyed Chris Tormey. He was my education aide when he was a student at the U of I. The University offers so much more than football though. A case in point--Dan Buckvich's Winter Concert last Friday night. Dan is an Idaho treasure. His contribution to the education of our students, and the students of his students, is immeasurable. Erickson didn't even come close, either time.

All:
Above is the list of 2006 newcomers for the Vandals. None of the names on the list registered as "thugs"-at least not to my knowledge. I suspect that U of I will not experience a coach with the loyalty of an Eddie Robinson (Grambling), a Bobby Bowden (Florida State), a Paul "Bear" Bryant (Bama), or an Ara Parseghian (Notre Dame)-men whose names became synonymous with the schools they coached. Unfortunately, we just aren't at that level of play (or in the case of Grambling, just don't have as strong a legacy or tradition, as it were). But it is too bad we couldn't keep Erickson for at least two years (at least from an economical standpoint).
In other topics: Since I don't have each address for each member of Vision 2020, let me wish you all a happy and safe holiday season. I will publish some reminders later this week regarding travel during the holidays. Take care all.
