[Vision2020] public school job training

sit there and say read the chapter and answer the question on the
worksheet."
Donovan,
If someone is a coach does that mean they must teach PE? If a coach is also
a History teacher, does that mean they have no idea what they are talking
about all the time? If a PE teacher is obese, does that make them
ineffective as a teacher? Is it possible for an obese teacher to be the
greatest PE/Health teacher in the world?
The best government teacher I ever had was Todd Simis at Boise HS. He was
also the head football coach and an assistant track coach. Because he was a
coach, does that make him incompetent as a Government teacher? I took a law
class in high school taught by John Keith Carlton, he coaches golf. I had
US History from Dr. Steve Mendive, he was a tennis coach. The list goes on
and on. What it seems is that you have no idea about how passionate people
are in society about teaching. People pursue PhD degrees to teach HS
English. Teachers in general are motivated not by money but rather by their
students. Maybe if you actually got out of school, used your certification,
and tried to make a difference in the lives of students you might actually
understand.
Donovan, I am a football coach, wrestling coach, track coach, and a teacher.
I teach HS Health and JH PE. Does that mean that I am a crappy teacher
because I coach? You have never seen me in the classroom before, you have
no idea what I do. I attend conferences, give presentations on my teaching
style or new activities, use technology in PE and Health, and stay focused
on one thing; the individual accomplishments of all of my students and
student athletes. Prove to me that because I coach, I am a horrible
teacher. Do me a favor and take Dr. Stoll's classes on Sports Ethics and
Moral Reasoning and then tell me that PE/Health teachers are ineffective
because they are obese or overweight.
There is a reason that education in society is not all it could be, part of
that reason is people like you who spend their time complaining instead of
actually doing. Get into the classroom, teach kids as you have been trained
and make a difference.
