[Vision2020] An Iraqi Veteran's Testimony

Tom raises a valid concern regarding Bush senior's decision NOT to let
Schwarzkopf enter Baghdad in '91.

This concern was echoed then and now by many conservatives. It was,
however, primarily the influence of the compromiser, Colin Powell, on Bush
which lead to that decision. Certainly hindsight allows us to argue
persuasively in favor of either course of action.

Tom asks, How is Iraq currently sponsoring terrorism against the rest of the
world?

"Iraq" isn't. Some factions, who are presently vying for control of the
country as a whole, are.

Tom concludes that America is attempting to preserve the Iraqi government
and is therefore hypocritical for supporting a government it claim is
sponsoring Terror worldwide.

Tom, you'd be right if such was the case, but as I said, we have
consistently supported not the Iraqis as a whole, but just that portion we
view to be relatively modern and progressive. It is that portion which we
have helped to grasp the reigns of leadership over there.

At one time Iraq was controlled by a terrorist sociopath for 4 long decades.
We stepped in and freed the balance of the Iraqi people. And that is a good
thing for which we should be inclined to admire GW.

Have a good week ya'll, --Tony
