[Vision2020] Refugees (was Delete)

Kit,
That is a wonderful idea. Towns in east Texas have been overrun with
refugees. Up here the local churches are asking for donations of Alaska
Airline frequent flyer miles to fly refugees here. Once tourist season ends
next week, the Fairbanks area will have around 4000 motel rooms available
until late next spring. I would venture that hotel rooms, apartments and
some duplexes in Moscow could be home to refugees as well. Since Alaska
Airline's partner Horizon services Moscow/Pullman you may be able to set up
such a program as well. The need is there as my mother-in-law (and former
Moscow resident) called again to day and told us about the incredible sight
of these refugees just pouring into her town as well. This may well be the
larges humanitarian crisis the nation has faced since the end of the Civil
War.

I think the only way to handle the refugees from New Orleans etc is if
the people are spread throughout the US until things can be cleaned up
& the infrastructure rebuilt. So, how about many towns (such as Moscow)
inviting 2-5 or so families to come. The town and/or churches could
provide housing and help with finding jobs, then the kids can go to
school and have a somewhat normal life until they can return home.
