No matter how many times it is said some still expect everything to be
solved in an hour. It just does not work that way most of the time. We will
have to wait and our modern world that takes a lot of work. Thanks for your
info here it was a help.

Subject: RE: [Vision2020] UI Email Hacking

Since this seems to be a pressing concern, I will chime in here, but
understand that I am speaking generically about law enforcement
investigations and not on behalf of this case or on behalf of Moscow PD, the
prosecutor's office, or any other agency having investigative interest in
this case.

That having been said: It is not unusual for an investigation involving
computers in particular (but any investigation for that matter) to continue
for a long time before further comment is made to the press or to the
public. There are a variety of reasons why investigators or LE agencies
choose to withhold investigative information--far too many for me to list
here. I am hesitant to speculate as to why information is not flowing into
public venue, but no significant time has passed between the distribution of
the offending email and today (the statute of limitations for charging on
even a misdemeanor is a year and a day from the time of the offense). And,
in my experience, time spent working on a case is usually proportional to
its import.

I realize this response does nothing to answer any questions posed here on
this issue, but I know people often think that if they aren't hearing about
a case in the press, nothing is happening in the case, and I want to assure
people that this is a false assumption. For what it's worth . . .
