Ellen,

I think the Daily News has accurately reported the statements made by 
Matthew and James Wells when they pled guilty.  They said they wanted to 
talk to one of the football players about the fight the night before, to 
ensure their younger brother wouldn't have any problems as a result of the 
fight.  I'd recommend that article.  The one in the Spokesman-Review on 
Saturday wasn't very good.
