Have you interested in learning more about home horticulture? Would you be
willing to share your knowledge with others? Then the Master Gardener
Program is for you!

A Master Gardener is provided with in-depth research based instruction in
home horticulture. Through weekly trainings by specialists in their
respective fields, you will become knowledgeable in a wide array of
horticulture subjects. This knowledge will increase your skills, as well as
enable you to assist other gardeners with horticulture questions. As a
Master Gardener, you will work extensively with the public and have the
opportunity to participate in organized volunteer activities and/or develop
special projects within the community.

Classes will be held every Thursday morning, beginning January 12, 2005 from
9:00 till noon into May. In exchange for the training, Master Gardeners are
required to give 40 volunteer hours to the program by the end of December
2006.

Some of the topics covered are: Soils, Xeriscaping, Insect Management, Plant
Disease Diagnosis, Allergy-Free Planting, Composting, Weed Control Options,
Pruning, Fruit Trees, and much, much more.

Applications are available through the Latah County Extension Office. The
cost is $125.00 and includes materials. Upon completion of the classes and
volunteer requirements, students will be eligible for $100 refund.
