Phil mutters without thinking:

"Reviewing existing business models for this sort of development, the only
one I can seem to find in Moscow is Christ Church."

I am sorry Phil, but not surprised at all, that your imagination is so
limited. You might fit quite well on the current LEDC board with your lack
of knowledge and nay-saying attitude.

All the kinds of businesses listed in my original post exist in other areas
now. There may be, and most likely are, some of these businesses that for
various obvious reasons might want to move to a nicer spot in the world --
that would include Latah County. Fact: Relocation to nicer areas happens
all the time by businesses/industries. Also, strange as it may seem to you,
people with innovative ideas, good planning, and hard work could start and
succeed on the Palouse many of the kinds of businesses I listed, should they
choose. It is even happening. Imagine that.

Also you operate in abysmal ignorance as usual about my and many other
people's attitude toward business/industry. We have some industry on the
Palouse now, Schweitzer Engineering Labs for example, that are good examples
of acceptable industry on the Palouse. When I lived elsewhere, I served on
an economic development loan board. Loans were made by that board, for
example, that enabled Encoder Products to grow and prosper in Bonner County.
Encoder Products is another example of an industry that would fit well on
the Palouse.

Despite your comments about transportation, Schweitzer Labs seems to be
doing every well dealing with the transportation links available, as do
other businesses. There is no doubt that these links could be improved, but
the industry to support the smart investment in such links will probably
need to parallel or precede them.

Contrary to the complaints that you and your ilk make, I do not see an
egregious anti-business attitude on the Palouse. What I see is that people
who want to know the facts about any proposal before deciding whether to
support that proposal. People are interested in preserving certain aspects
of their lives they now enjoy. Businesses that do not severely impact that
lifestyle and do not threaten economic havoc for ordinary residents would be
welcomed, in my opinion.
