I wonder if, given the support at the Kirk for Peg Hamlett's candidacy for
mayor, it won't be long before women will be allowed to serve on the Logos
board. I mean, if a country that allows its women to defend it is a country
not worth defending, as Doug Wilson says, it's hard to see how a
municipality lead by one would be acceptable. But that was then -- maybe
the Christ Church/NSA support for Peg is evidence of a real change in Kirk
thought re: egalitarianism and gender roles.
Me:
Wilson, Jones, and kirkish others have always not only made a rightly strong
distinction between woman 'soldiers' and mere civic leadership, they have
vigorously fought against a more 'conservative' view that it is wrong to
have women civic leaders. No change in Kirk thought at all; quite the
opposite. This is a long standing strong distinctive. True diversity would
seem to entail at least understanding another culture before criticizing it.
Or perhaps I have a faulty view of what true diversity is..
I should also note something I discovered last night. Doug Wilson has
already given a very firm and clear reason on Vision2020 for why they do not
currently have women on the Logos board. So is Wilson lying?
Thanks
