Dale et. al.
Thanks for the apology. I did not think I would get one from you.
I don't totally agree or totally disagree with the Colin Shea article about
voting problems in Bush v. Kerry, because I have not done the research to
investigate these matters as fully as I would like. I did think it might stimulate
discussion.
But I continue to be amazed at how little passion there is among the masses
to fix all the numerous problems with our voting systems in the USA. I can
understand the anti-tax libertarian point of view. But when it comes to public
funding of institutions and processes that ensure every citizen has access to
the vote and that their vote is counted accurately, I can't think of anything
more deserving. As important as a defense from external attack is, an internal
defense against apathy and cynicism towards voting is critical to the health
of a democratic society. It is clear there is a lot of apathy and cynicism in
the USA towards voting.
It does seem though that even the blatant problems with the integrity of our
voting systems, when pointed out, generates attempts to silence those pointing
out the problems from those who have gained in the political arena from a
recent election.
Thus I post an article about possible voting fraud or abuse in the last
election and I am labeled a "paranoid."
I don't think Colin Shea should be labeled a "paranoid" either. If you want
to refute what he asserts regarding voting fraud and/or abuse, do so based on
facts and logic, not psychoanalytic derogatory labeling.
