Excuse me, I am out of control? I am not the one
recommending people to go see "Sideways". You ought to
lose your sanity ID card for that. :-)
What you ignore Scott is that the APA did in fact
release a report that concluded that molesting
children was not harmful. And pedophiles are no longer
necessarily considered to have a psychological
disorder. That might not be an endorsement, but it
certainly is not a good thing for children and did
please child molesters. So I think Pat's point on this
is valid, even if she has the specifics wrong.
The APA should be taken to task for releasing a report
(the Rind Report) saying that molesting children can
be good for them. The Rind report was garbage, and it
was based on junk science like the Kinsley Report.
What I do wish to point out, and where confusion and
disagreement may arise, is that the APA says in the
DSM-IV that a pedophile does not have a psychological
disorder UNLESS they act upon it. So if they think
about or want to molest a kid, that is not a mental
disorder, but if they do it, they do have a disorder.
That is confusing, and I do not agree with the APA
changing that qualification in the DSM-IV to say that.
I agree with Pat on that one. Because if they are
saying the desire and thinking is not a disorder it
makes it more difficult to prosecute and treat
pedophiles and to protect children from potential
predators.
As far as trying to convince Pat Kraut that
homosexuality is not sin, is also a waste of your time
and hers. Her belief is based on religious faith and
you cannot argue or reason with that.
