Many students and citizens of the Palouse region will more than likely be surprised to read the rest of this letter as Christ Church and Douglas Wilson have silently scheduled another “history” conference to take place on the UI campus. The Trinity Festival is in fact a conference on “history”, but I am afraid that this conference will again be a misrepresentation of the facts. Did the UI not learn anything from last year’s fiasco at the SUB? The religious aspect will definitely be present and the theories and ideals of this skewed religion are not in line with the goals of the University of Idaho, City of Moscow, and the State of Idaho.
How can UI allow Douglas Wilson and his band of misinformed supporters to overtake a student owned facility without the consent of the students? Last I checked the Kibbie Dome has ASUI in front of its name therefore making it a student owned facility. It appears that some tricky back scratching may have taken place amongst some good ol’ boys to get this event in the ASUI Kibbie Dome. The bottom line has got to be the almighty dollar, which these days seem to be holier than God on the UI campus.
Douglas Wilson and his colleagues have authored numerous books and publications and have spoken on numerous occasions on the dangers of government run schools. Douglas Wilson has accused government run schools of causing many societal problems. If Douglas Wilson feels so strongly about government schools, then why is he hosting a conference on a government-funded campus?
As a student of the University of Idaho, I object whole heartedly to this event and will do what I can to stop this event and any future events that Christ Church tries to force upon the UI campus from taking place. Join me in protest and let your voice be heard. Lets band together for change and stop anymore of these intolerable events from taking place on our campus and in our community.
