Well, you could lower yourself to enter WalMart for 45 seconds and
look on their bulletin board that lists some of the projects they
have donated $$ or in-kind donations locally. Some organizations
include: The Latah Trail Foundation, some organization who sponsored
a Kid Fishing Day, literacy projects, local school projects, the
Center on Disabilities and Human Development, American Red Cross of
Greater Idaho, etc etc...
If you want a more comprehensive and current answer perhaps you might
just call the local office and ask them yourself... since you are the
"Doubting Tom."
You can also check out:
http://www.walmartfoundation.org/wmstore/goodworks/scripts/index.jsp
E.g. From their website: "Wal-Mart/SAM's CLUB Foundation presented a
$1 million matching gift to the VFW Foundation on August 3, 2004. The
gift is being used to support the VFW's efforts to assist members of
America's military, veterans and their families."
and
They have a community grant/matching program that community
organizations can apply for ($61 million in grants last year in the
US)
And I am waiting patiently to hear 'well, that's only a minute
percentage of their profits' but really that is beside the point...
