Mr. Hansen,
You missed the point of the email. It was not
suggesting that accreditation is not important. I was
stating that the current zoning code does not allow
space for private non-accredited colleges in the city.
This is illegal. Churches and religious organizations
have a right to form non-accredited colleges to teach
their youth and others about the faith. So I think we
need to either draw up a new definition, or expand the
next closest definition so the code is legal and
inclusive of everyone. Eliminating the term
"accredited" seems easier than adding and creating a
new term and then writing it into the law in several
other zoning districts.
Anyone have any thoughts on this idea, or possibly
other solutions? It would be interesting to hear from
some other people that have not yet spoken on the new
zoning proposals.
