Debbie Gray stated:

"I am against people using the umbrella of 'medicinal marijuana' to just
score their weekend jag. That's a whole different issue. Would you agree on
that? There is the 'medicinal marijuana prescribed by doctors' issue and
there is the 'legalize all marijuana' issue."

Two things.

1. If medicinal cannabis were legalized, a patient's misuse of a
physician's prescribed narcotic would come into play. If the physician
diagnoses his/her patient as suffering from Glaucoma, or some other illness
where the physician prescribes cannabis, than the physician should monitor
the prescription, much the same way as a physician who prescribes codeine
(which is far more addictive than marijuana). Progressive prescription
renewals should be a red flag to the physician. Question the physician's
ethics if this continues unreasonably.

2. Recreational use of cannabis should be controlled by the government in
the same manner as alcohol. It is the old saying, "If you want to control
the use of something, legalize it." It would be interesting to see the
comparative statistics of both California (where possession for private use
has been reduced to a misdemeanor) and Alaska (where possession for private
use has been reduced to a minor infraction) before and after those states'
reduction of marijuana laws.

Take care, Moscow.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are
dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all
exist very nicely in the same box.
