[Vision2020] An Open Letter

I'm well aware, Dale, of the New Testament injunctions against hearsay,
gossip, false witness, testimony, and accusations not supported by facts.
My point, and I think you know this, is that tossing out prooftexts to avoid
the larger issue, even when the texts are applicable, indicates less than a
spirit of humility and openness.

But you know what? I'm not telling you anything you don't know, and you
aren't telling me anything I don't know. Cool. And folks say we don't have
much in common . . .

rebuked and scorned.

Actually, Jesus said that Himself:

Matt 18:16 -- "If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private;
if he listens to you, you have won your brother. 16 "But if he does not
listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR
THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.

And the Apostle Paul:

2 Corinthians 13:1 "This is the third time I am coming to you. EVERY FACT IS
TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE TESTIMONY OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES. "
1 Timothy 5:19 "Do not receive an accusation against an elder except on the
basis of two or three witnesses."

If you think that is wooden Biblical literalism, take it up with Christ and
the Apostle Paul.

Best,
Dale
