Ted, I disagree, in part.  I believe that the accepted, general rule is one post per day.  

I do agree that an occasional need to rebut/respond is also accepted within the list community, thereby allowing for several posts in a day as an exception to the general rule.  But the multiple postings on a daily basis is not what the list group envisioned as the norm; it is an example of the exception swallowing the rule.

If we all tried to live up to the general rule of one post per day, perhaps the level of discourse might improve.

  The consensus that I have gathered from reading V2020 is two or three posts per day per person for a "limit."  I have not read many opinions insisting on only one post per day per person.  This is my second post today.  The need for more than one post per person per day is be able to correct something misstated or to answer an objection from another V2020 subscriber.

  Moscow Vision 2020 has, for more than 10 years, been an unmoderated community list.  Comments from elected officials or staff members are always welcome.

  To strengthen its usefulness, V2020 members have set guidelines for participation including:

  2. Posts should focus on issues, not individuals, to lessen name-calling and petty bickering
  3. No more than one post per day per person.
