[Vision2020] W. Mark Felt, hero or heel?

Pat, at some level, you've got to realize that your argument is simply
monstrous.

Mark Felt turned in the entire criminal enterprise that was the Nixon
Administration. Deep Throat wasn't the first time he'd tried to do it.
The first time he tried to do it -- when he refused to certify that a
letter sent by the Comittee to Re-elect the President soliciting a
$400,000 bribe was a fraud -- he was demoted. Then he was passed over
for promotion. Then Nixon and his cronies systematically attempted to
ruin his career.

There are two reasons, at this point, that he would've, should've been
angry: first, that the corrupt White House was trying to end his
career. Second, that the White House was corrupt. These motives are
indistinguishable As for the laughable argument that he's "just coming
out for the money", the man is ninety-one years old and in
questionable health. He's living in a nursing home. What the hell does
he need money for?

I'm sure you're just repeating what Chuck Colson or G. Gordon Liddy is
saying on the talk-show circuit. What I don't quite understand why the
news media finds it at all interesting that felons don't appreciate
being turned in. The fact that G. Gordon Liddy doesn't like Mark Felt
is not news. It's a law of nature. Why are these people still on the
news? Why are these people still alive? We have a word for people who
actively work to subvert the Constitution of the United States:
they're called traitors. We collectively have decided that we either
lock them up for life or execute them. Frankly, that's fine with me.

The fact that Nixon died a free man in 1994 is one of the great
injustices of our time. So is the fact that the man that brought him
down is being smeared on every news outlet that his co-conspirators
can reach.
