And which part of the Naylor Family, founders of this little burg on the
Palouse, does Lois not understand?

Yes the Naylor Family has incorporated, with shareholders who are all family
members. Its one method that many farm families have been using in the last
couple of decades to keep a farm together, rather than breaking it up into
smaller and smaller acreages to distribute to family members individually.

So when Lois refers to one of the oldest families here in town as though it
was a giant evil corporate entity from somewhere near the planet Zeon, what
are we to make of her general statements?

Rob Lemke, who heads the Naylor Family enterprise, was born here in Latah
County and though he works for the State of Idaho down in Boise, plans on
retiring back home in a ciouple of years. He is a great Grandson of John
Naylor, one of the seven founder of Moscow.

Rick Naylor and his family have been here all their lives.

The other Great Grandkids and Great Great Grandkids, all are holders of the
complete interest in their family farming corporation.

So how, when only Naylors are owners and they have been part of Moscow since
there was a Moscow to be part of, can Lois insist that she is battling evil
'corporate' interests? I would think in her retirement income, Lois makes
more money than any individual member of the Naylor Family and the people
with the 10,000 square foot trophy homes who backed her oposition to
Naylor's plans definately make more than they do.

So when Lois insists that she oposes building more homes along the ridge
lines and more removal of farm lands from around the community of Moscow,
who does she think she is kidding? The ordiance that blocks the Naylors and
anybody else in the county for that matter, from building lakes and pond
using locally derived clay allows for the construction of unlimited ridge
top housing. Those same regs will al;ow the lot size for the building of
homes to be substantially reduced, making the 638 acres of Naylor farms
eligible for the construction of up to 500 houses.

So if the Naylors want to build a vinyard and winery and 150 acres of lakes
on their place, they are banned from doing so, but if they want to subdivide
the heck out of the farm, they are doing what the regulations that Lois
praises says they can do. Boy ain't that just Smart Growth.

And for those who want to build a pond on any area near Moscow other than on
Naylor Farms, Jack Hammond out in Troy can sell you some clay to be hauled
in from Helmer. Do not even think about taking clay from your own property
and building that pond, because its a major fine and jail time to move clay
on your land to build a pond, but you are authorized to buy it from out in
Helmer or Bovill and truck it in.

But hey, Lois is protecting us all. right?
