A 23-year-old Moscow, Idaho, woman was involved in a minor automobile crash shortly after noon on Friday, July 8, and while she was being cited, her 57-year-old father pulled up and was arrested on felony drug charges.
According to the Idaho State Police, Mithra Jacobs was traveling south on U.S. 95 near milepost 325 at about 12:33 p.m. when she lost control of her 1987 Dodge Ram pickup and crashed. She told officers that her steering had gone out, but officers checked the vehicle and found no mechanical problem and Mithra was cited for inattentive driving.
Deputies from the Latah County Sheriffs Office, including a deputy with a drug-sniffing dog, arrived on scene to help with the investigation, and a short time later, Mithra's father, Douglas Jacobs, pulled in, driving a 1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass.
When the deputy with the drug dog walked by the car, the dog locked on to the trunk of the man's car and a search of the vehicle turned up a quantity of marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamines.
Douglas Jacobs was arrested for possession of all three with intent to deliver, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a concealed weapon. His daughter was not injured in the crash.
