Tom asked,
"Can the sensitivity of a motion detector system be adjusted so that it
does not go into "light show" mode every time some animals enter the
yard at night?"

You can adjust the sensitivity of some motion detectors, but on most you
can "aim" the eye of the detector to a height above most animals.  Of
course, if you want it to come on for kids and such, you may get the
occasional deer or large dog, depending on where you are.
