Thank you, John Dickison for responding to Saundra Lund's Vision 2020
comments regarding the recent City Council meeting. After reading your email I
began to wonder why Moscow needs a Chamber of Commerce. Why can't city
government assume the role of providing information packets, answering questions
about Moscow, and boosting our local economy? Moscow citizens know that city
employees enjoy fair hiring practices and equitable treatment, every business
would be represented (not just those who pay a membership fee), it is unlikely
that Moscow would ever have to endure another humiliating Robert E. Lee type
of incident, and there would be credible financial oversight.

If folks in the business community wanted to continue enjoying membership in
a little club, run in their own peculiar style, they should do so on their
own dime. Moscow City government would do a much better, much fairer, and
much more professional job of representing all of Moscow - and since Moscow
taxpayers are already paying for the work, why not let them, through their
elected officials, run it?

just too many of them. But you can do something, and the difference between
doing something and doing nothing is everything." Daniel Berrigan
