Bush budget cutsI know that some of these are really out of whack. I mean Magic Johnson got money from one of the AG programs for not growing something! I bet there is a lot of argument but I do hope they manage to eliminate some of them. Some of these programs are doing no good but some could be fixed and be useful I am hearing. It won't hurt us to drop some of them I bet.

For years the Republican program has been to increase defense spending and corporate handouts while cutting taxes to better portray federal spending as out of hand. They're finally getting there wish with Bush's budget proposal to eliminate or sharply reduce the programs listed below. Many of them will have a direct effect on our lives here in Moscow, Idaho. I ask every Vision2020 reader to review the list and see how you will personally be effected, then call and write your Congressmen and Senators.

Budget Programs Facing Cuts, Elimination

Here are the 154 programs that President Bush wants to eliminate or cut in his 2006 budget proposal. Bush would terminate 99 programs and make major spending reductions in 55. Separately, the administration listed eight major reforms Bush proposed that also would produce spending cuts.
Of the terminations, Bush has recommended 59 of them before. Twenty-seven of the 55 programs targeted for spending reductions have been previously submitted to Congress.
