This is a sneaky threat and I hope that Microsoft will release a patch
for it shortly. Until then you can alleviate the problem by using the
instructions contained at this web page:
http://antivirus.about.com/od/virusdescriptions/a/wmfexploit_2.htm

For those who would rather just apply the steps immediately, here is
the recommended action:
To unregister shimgvw.dll:

   1. Click Start
   2. Click Run
   3. Type (without the quotes) "regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll"
   4. Click OK
   5. You will receive an alert telling you that "DllUnregisterServer
in shimgvw.dll succeeded". Click OK.

If later you wish to re-enable shimgvw.dll, you can do so by following
the steps above, substituting "regsvr32 shimgvw.dll" for step 3.

Note: If you have multiple accounts on the system, you may need to
repeat the above mentioned steps for each account.

The above steps will turn off the Windows Fax and Picture viewer
helper program that displays Windows Metafile (WMF) images. By doing
that, you reduce your vulnerability to the bug and will likely not
notice any difference in your day-to-day use of the computer.
