Proposed Playfield Feet From Sexual Predators
The proposed site for a mega-baseball playfield for Moscow youth, to the tune of nearly $3 million, is literally just feet from a neighborhood trailer park that has the largest concentration of sexual predators in the city (http://www.isp.state.id.us/so_viewer/search.jsp). Four residents alone in this park are registered specifically for sexual crimes against children and minors.
The poorly developed road system on West Palouse River Dr. would force anyone except those living in the immediate area, including Moscow's youth, to have to pass by the trailer park to get to the proposed playfield site.
So many sexual predators live in this neighborhood because it is one of the few places they are allowed to live in Moscow. Most apartment complexes and neighborhoods ban sexual offenders. This particular trailer park does not ban sexual predators, registered sex offenders, felons, drug dealers and other released criminals from residing in the neighborhood. Removing the offenders would not be practical considering that there is no other place that would have enough space or the willingness to house them.
I believe that the city of Moscow should seriously reconsider finding a new location other than W. Palouse River Dr. for a play field for youth. Placing a large center for children in the backyard of sexual predators, convicted sex offenders, and other felons is not in the best interests of the city or the children.

  Sincerely,
