Ron et. al.

I understand your perspective on appropriate Vision2020 list topics, though
there are some very well informed and intelligent list members who do not agree
that the theological or philosophical discussions are not important or
related to local community concerns.

What I primarily disagree with in your statement is that the unmoderated
Vision2020 list has "succumbed" to "trolls, fanatics, obsessives and nuts." I
also don't agree with oversimplified negative stereotyping of other human beings,
though it is easy to "succumb" to the temptation to label some people in this
manner.

Consider this definition:

suc·cumb    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (s-km)
intr.v. suc·cumbed, suc·cumb·ing, suc·cumbs
To submit to an overpowering force or yield to an overwhelming desire; give
up or give in. See Synonyms at yield.
To die.

Has Vision2020 submitted to an overpowering force derived from the people you
reference with your derogatory stereotypes that has resulted in the list
giving up or giving in? No. Has Vision2020 died? No.

Can it accurately be claimed that some people who may match your stereotypes
have harassed the list? Yes.
