One more thing: I thought you might be interested in the background of the folks who will present the City Repair workshops: Jenny, Katrina and Mark:
Jenny Leis
Co-Director, National Vision
Jenny Leis brings a comprehensive overview of
sustainability to bear on her work with diverse
communities within and beyond Portland. Her particular
focus in every project has been to build
interconnected community partnerships as a basis for a
stronger social ecology. Her commitment to community
development reflects her understanding that
sustainability must have a social foundation. As a
coordinator of City Repair's annual Village Building
Convergence since 2003, Jenny has overseen the
building of more than 25 community gathering places.
Katrina Zavalney
Co-Director, National Outreach
Katrina has been a core member of City Repair since
1999 when she was a co-coordinator of CR's first youth
project, the T-Pony mobile public square. Since then
she has been involved with youth in many leadership
capacities including with Olympia's Procession of the
Species, and the Oregon Country Fair's Youth Program.
Her work at City Repair has also included Volunteer
Coordination and organizational development.
Mark Lakeman
Co-Director, Creative Vision
As a co-founder of City Repair, Mark has overseen it's
development into an organization with national reach.
He has been involved with almost all of it's projects,
and supports City Repair work now through traveling,
presenting, and coordinating workshops. He also likes
to use his hands, so he can often be found out in the
field building with the communities that City Repair
supports.
