Ms. Kraut,
I am sure that many, if not most, people in Iraq want
us to stay there and appreciate our efforts, money,
and resources. I am also sure our compassionate
soldiers want to help and stay to help their brothers
in arms, even ones injured. We should be so fortunate
to have such men and women defending us.
I think it is great that people living in mud huts are
now free to watch the Disney Channel on satellite TV
too.
However, the issue here, at least for me anyway, is
that our boys and girls are dying, in another country
that did not attack ours, 1/2 way across the world,
for reasons unclear to most the country.
Our country should give support, in terms of
resources, time, and money. But giving OUR youth's
life and blood is not acceptable for the change of
regime in ANOTHER country that is no threat to the US.
We should only ask our boys and girls in uniform to
give their lives when the US is in imminent danger.
We should not just send our boys and girls to die for
any nation that does not have a constitutional
democracy or under a dictatorship.
We need to stop making excuses and false
justifications to send our troops off to die, and
start looking at the reasons to keep them here, alive,
and in one piece.
Unlike some others, I do not question your commitment
to doing what you believe to be right, God, to our
nation, your patriotism, and endless willingness to
support our troops. However, I think you are wrong on
this issue, and I think supporting this war is simply
dragging out the quagmire and will not effect the
outcome in Iraq, just how many US lives are lost.
Take Care,
Donovan J Arnold
