[Vision2020] Separation Of Church & State

How about we ban the yearly pow wow at the dome? After all that is
religious, as well, isn't it?
Polygamy? I don't care, frankly. I DO however have a problem with 13 year
females getting married against their will. Practices which have been well
documented over the past few years. And which have been done by ALL of the
groups you mentioned, Joan.
Should we allow the practice of mutilating female genetalia, since it has a
religious facet? It's a "cultural norm". Whether religous or secular, every
society has its "cultural norm", in which people function. Western norms do
not allow polygamy, human sacrifice, yadayadyada. And even religions must
stay within those boundries. Do Jews regulary sacrifice animals anymore? If
not, why not? What changed?

Saundra, the cost of the rental has nothing to do with the practice of
religious ceremonies in a public venue. Several months ago, the screaming
was all about allowing CC to use the facility. The money issue is a business
problem not a religious one. And we know how well the U of I handles its
finances.

And yes I had a hidden agenda, I hate people using the term "separation of
church and state" as though it were in the Constitution. I think that those
using it are misleading the general public by using it out of its original
context and are using it as a propoganda tool. So I pointed it out.
Just as I will point out that the Declaration of Independence states "Laws
of Nature and of Nature's God " and "protection of Divine Providence".
When will those words be struck out of it? They clearly breach the so called
wall of separation.
It's a bunch of hooey, the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion, not
freedom "from" religion.
Communists have tried and failed to legislate religion out of society, what
makes people think the results would be any different here?

Just my opinion.
