No more Band-Aids
As a member of the Moscow School District facilities planning committee for
the past two years, one of several repeating items we heard from you was to
stop the Band-Aid approach being used on the facilities in the past. These
Band-Aids included "temporary" portable units which were added 15 or more
years ago, building additions which provided more exercise than efficiency,
extending existing heating systems beyond their original intention in years
and capacity and many more.
This bond represents a well-thought-out process of information gathering,
public input as well as compromise to address several facilities concerns.
It will provide two quality updated neighborhood elementary schools. It
helps all of the elementary schools by opening up needed space for services.
It will provide a high school with quality facilities both interior and
exterior. It brings the ninth-graders into the high school system to provide
them opportunities which currently require across town busing and it
provides high school students a place to eat besides the hallway floor for
their lunch period. The cost of waiting on this is too high, both in
monetary terms (inflation, interest rates and expiring state funds) and in
missed opportunities for our students and community.
Two yes votes are needed for every no; tell a friend why you feel this will
benefit your community. Vote yes April 26 at the Latah Fairgrounds.

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will
stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving
path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so
far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb.
