[Vision2020] Question 1 Shortage of Books

According to the members of CQE, (I have it in writing if you want it) here
is why the school district is short on science textbooks.
Every five years each department gets brand new books. The science
department is suppose to get new text books in Fall 2005. So they did not
want to buy more of the old edition to ensure that every kid had enough text
books. They thought it more prudent to just let the children share and save
some bucks instead of buying books that would be outdated the next year.
Agreement with that decision is based on your own morals. MSD is not lacking
funds for the current operation of schools. It just makes decisions we do
not always agree on.
Take Care,

>>Thanks Keely,
>>
>>I will try to get the correct language as best I can. Maybe we can ask and
>>answer questions according to subjects as question 1, question 2, etc.
>>Then the people that do not want to listen about certain questions can
>>delete? I am asking questions from other people who wish to remain
>>un-named. Some wish to be named but are not subscribers to this list. Just
>>want some answers. Anybody wishing to chime in please do so. WITHOUT

>>
>>Thank you Keely. A lot of people are listening today and I hope you have
>>the time or can refer me to the appropriate party to get a question
>>answered if you are unable.
>>
>>So, regarding question 1: Project spending:
>>
>>Yes, the correct term is "project." So the bond money will be used in the
>>following PROJECT MANNER? The 5 people on the school board including Dr.
>>Donicht are the ones that voted unanimously how to use this bond money in
>>the following manner? It never was asked to the public how to spend the 29
>>million dollars we are to vote on?
>>
>>PROJECT:
>>1) Elemenatary school 1 remodel
>>2) Elementary school 2 remodel
>>3) High School remodel
>>4) New Construction for High School
>>
>>Now, if the bond does not pass how do we, the tax payers ask for a bond to
>>remodel both elementary schols and the current high school? Like what the
>>Matrix report suggested?
>>
>>previously asked.........
>> >How do we get the textbooks and school supplies so desperately needed
>>for
>> > the children if this bond is only for "construction" purposes? How will
>>the
>> > maintenance, salaries and operations for the new high school be paid?
>>From
>> > the bond already passed and the money already in the pot? Or will it
>>need to
>> > be another bond to vote on from the public adding a new tax?
>>
>>Keely - I remember reading somewhere that a science class did not have
>>enough books for the students to take home and study for a test they were
>>going to have. This is of course a problem. How do we get the kids all the
>>books they need? I don't want this to transfer to the new HS. I want it
>>handled now. Is it the teacher that gets a "budget" and there is not
>>enough money in his/her budget to buy each student a book? If they are not
>>getting a proper budget to cover this, is it because of the "school budget
>>cuts" that come to us from our elected officials like senator, etc.?
>>
>>Included in this bond is the future expense cost of maintainng the
>>projects? Is there a document available to the public that shows us the
>>actual breakdown of each project and how the district arrived at the 29
>>mil?
>>
>>
>>SECURITY FENCE:
>> >The Trail family is donating the cost of the fence. This appears to
>>have been lost in the debate.
>>
>>This indeed will be a wonderful donation as it could be quite expensive.
>>Do we know the value of this fence they are donating? Do I understand that
>>in the Trails original offer where they stated a security fence is
>>required, they meant a security fence will have to be on the donated land
>>period? That they will pay for it but in order for them to gift the land
>>to us they want the school enclosed in a security fence like manner? Do
>>you or anybody listening know exactly what they are buying and putting
>>around the new HS? I would sure like to know, if my kids were of HS age. I
>>think I read somewhere that they would accept a chain link fence. So if
>>they are buying it what will it look like? As a neighbor to the proposed
>>site I would like to know what I am going to be looking at. What if they
>>build a big old and ugly brick wall all around the premsie?
>>
>>Oh - will the school district own the gifted and purchased land from the
>>Trails free and clear?
>>
>>Many people admire you in trying to get the public educated. We all
>>understand you are only one person. We all ask where in the heck is your
>>support? Dr. Donicht? Other trustees? FPC? CQE? ANYBODY? Keely - where are
>>the people that are paid to do this job? Where are the people that can
>>help you?
>>
