[Vision2020] The Nuclear Option (re: School Levy)

It pains me to wade into this again, but I will correct one thing in Phil's
post. I'm afraid his understanding is incorrect.

The bond language, supported by a resolution at last month's board meeting,
specifies that monies directed toward, for example, elementary remodels will
be spent on those remodels. The high school cost cannot and will not "eat
up" bond monies originally earmarked for WP and Russell. This is ironclad
and stated clearly; it's not the way Phil has portrayed it.

Phil, the cost breakdown for remodeling the high school is what you seem to
want. It appears to be what you requested from the district office
yesterday. If so, it is what you will get. It is information that has been
available for months and many, many people in Moscow have seen it. I'm
sorry you missed the meetings where it was distributed and I'm sorry you
feel you're being stonewalled. You're not.

I truly don't know how much more clear I can be.

Dear Visionaries:

.......great investigative reporting by Phil "Gumshoe" Roderick and Jack
Doc Holliday" Wenders about those notorious Palouse gangsters, Keely "Baby
Face" Mix and the Trail family mafia.

No need for name calling Joan. We are all bigger than that.

"There is NO $29mil remodel of the high school. The $29mil is for the
ENTIRE
remodel/buidling project which includes two elementary schools and the high
school and the new high school If you want a break-down of that, then you
need say so. BTW, that has been supplied to the newspapers, in newsletters,

is available at the District Office and was very available on Saturday in
the form of the individual handouts that the architect had for everyone's
convenience. Did you not get a copy of those? I am sure if you went to the

District Office and asked NICELY they would direct you to the material. I
believe they are/will be available at the individual schools also."

It is broken down on the new high school how about the old high school
remodel. " That is what we keep asking for. Over and over and over. Without
getting answers it does look like a cartel and acts like one. Maybe you
could ask and see if they tell you anything different? Ask exactly what I
asked them for.

1) "I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A COST BREAKDOWN FROM THE ARCHITECT OF THE 20,500
000.00 "REMODEL" OF THE EXISTING HIGH SCHOOL."

2) "I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE "DIRECTIVE" FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD TO THE
ARCHITECT "DIRECTING" HOW THE BID IS TO BE DONE."

..................Once the bond is approved, is there any particular reason
we can't begin a fresh argument over where to locate it? NO so if you go
into the grocery store and none of the prices are posted and you pick up
everything you need and throw it in your shopping cart and ya get to the
cash register and ya find out ya only have enough money for half of what ya
got.

Yes, this is sad that the elementary schools will lose out on the levy
because of wanting a new high school. Maybe they should just ask for a levy
on the elementary schools and not the high school? I bet the vote might be
different. I understand the way the levy is written they can move the money
anywhere they seem fit. So - we are not guaranteed any money is going to the
elementary schools, period.

Also -- and this is a big also -- here's the complete 411 on this levy: West
Park and Russell are crumbling. They're inadequate. It is my understanding
that they are not in compliance with the ADA. What's more, it would be
cheaper by far to scrap them both and build a new elementary school at the
Joseph Street site So why don't we?

Next levy.

Well, I'd say it's because the Moscow School Board is sensitive to the
emotional and aesthetic attachment many of us feel for West Park and/or
Russell. (With regard to Russell in particular, its aesthetic appeal,
history and location seem to be of paramount concern to many. And I'm glad
for this. I think Russell is a beautiful school, and it would pain me to
lose it.)

Pains me to lose the aesthetically pleasing high school.

.............disingenuous, disinformation websites like www.moscowlevy.com
and www.moscoweducation.org.

I see nothing but honesty and integrity from both of these websites. No dog
and pony show. Just the facts.

You know there might be plenty of money already in the school coffer. How
come the school board is not prudently using our tax money to help these
poor elementary schools?

Just asking for the facts. Nothing more. Is the truth insulting? Sorry......
.....the tide continues to rise as long as people ignore questions the
public want answered..

This outcome would certainly please Dale Courtney and Jack Wenders (both of
whom were extensively, if ironically, educated on the public dime), but how
many of the rest of us would be dancing in the streets? Precious few, I
suspect; precious few.

I think there are plenty more people that would like this levy not to pass.
We will all shortly know.

How about you ask the question(s) and see where you get?

1) "I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A COST BREAKDOWN FROM THE ARCHITECT OF THE 20,500
000.00 "REMODEL" OF THE EXISTING HIGH SCHOOL."

2) "I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE "DIRECTIVE" FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD TO THE
ARCHITECT "DIRECTING" HOW THE BID IS TO BE DONE."

Phil
