There is a meeting at the 1912 Building on Third Street TONIGHT, Thursday November 18, at 7 p.m. The City Council has formed a 1912 Building Use Committee from a broad cross-section of people in the community and tomorrow's meeting is the first of the Public Input meetings. The City and the MCA encourage as many people as possible to attend this valuable meeting to give input on the redevelopment of the 1912 Building.
You can expect to see a video tour of the upper floors and get an appreciation of their potential -- beautiful large rooms with huge windows and a skylight.
There will be an opportunity to discuss anything you wish regarding the potential uses of this building. Currently the Use Committee has five subcommittees, History & Education, Arts & Culture, Community, Business Planning, and Public Input. We anticipate that there will be an opportunity to break-out into smaller groups for moderated focus groups on these subjects.
Then, after discussion, we will seek to have the attending people place "dots" next to those items with the most subjective appeal to each participant from among all of the varying ideas. In this way, we hope to begin to get an idea of the popularity of the various ideas brought up as possible uses of the 1912 Building.
