Visionaries:
It was thoughtful of Dale C. to resurrect the Potok article (albeit trying to
lay credit on the Intoleristas or other liberal elites) in light of the
recent status of women in Idaho report.
According to a recent movie review of the film Osama, "characteristics of
Taliban rule [include] the oppression of women, religious fundamentalism, protest
and its suppression" http://www.bfi.org.uk/sightandsound/2004_02/osama.php.
Does this sound familiar? And I might add, Christ Church isn't the only star
in Idaho's universe in this regard. Patriarchal religion permeates Idaho
politics - and always, always, always at the expense of women's (and generally
minority) rights.
Rose Huskey

"One cannot level one's moral lance at every evil in the universe. There are
just too many of them. But you can do something, and the difference between
doing something and doing nothing is everything." Daniel Berrigan
