Performers, Musicians, Artists Wanted for Park Celebration

Artists, performers and musicians are invited to compete for cash prizes by participating in the Moscow Civic Association's celebration of Moscow's city parks to be held on Wednesday, June 30, beginning at 5pm at East City Park.

The MCA art contest and showcase is open to all ages, individuals, and groups. There are two categories that will be judged separately.

The visual arts category includes but is not limited to: photography, drawings, paintings, sculpture, mixed media, collage, fabric art, and cartoons. The performance category includes but is not limited to: music (vocal and/or instrumental), skits, dance, and poetry or prose of any style. Musical entries need not be original pieces.

The theme, which can be interpreted loosely, is "In the Park." Entries may be humorous, zany, serious, sentimental, dramatic, fact or fiction, or anything else. Examples of possible submissions include a photo of a child playing at the park, a cartoon about something funny that happened at the park, a piece of music inspired by time spent in the park, a park-related poem, a zany skit related to friends in the park, or any park-related activity like juggling, stilt walking, or giant puppet parading.

The Moscow Civic Association will award cash prizes of $50, $30, and $20 for first, second, and third place winners in both categories.

The art contest and showcase entry form is available at the MCA website (www.moscowcivic.org <http://www.moscowcivic.org/>). The application may be submitted by mail to the MCA at PO Box 8788, Moscow ID 83843. Or the application information can be submitted via email to <submission@moscowcivic.org>.

All applications are due by Friday, June 25.

All entries in the visual art competition must be brought to the park on Wednesday, June 30, before 5pm.
