Does it strike anyone else as odd that Moscow's Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") is taking place on a Saturday two weeks after Ash Wednesday? Sure, I'll concede the need for a bash on the weekend instead of during the week for a university town. But, come on -- two weeks late? Sheesh. Might as well call the thing "Samedi Gras" and start a new tradition.
