[Vision2020] Grrr . . . Local Revisionist History

Visionaries,
I KNOW some of you are sick of reading about the antics of a certain local "church". For those of you who are informed about the issues, you might want to hit the Delete key now.
However, for those who still wonder what on earth all of the fuss is about, I offer the following, which makes my blood boil. How stupid does he think we are???
Doug Wilson, who is *supposedly* a man of God, has posted the following to his little blog:
" Taking Over Moscow?
Topic: General Ruminations
A certain kind of mind cannot wrap around the concept of political consequences being accomplished apart from political instruments or means. . . And consequently, when we say, as we have often said, that we do not have a political agenda, we are accused of being disingenuous (Luke 8:10). . .
2. Politics is not what we are fighting with. . .
3. ***We therefore do not need to employ political tactics (campaigns, petitions, yard signs, etc.) to accomplish what we are after***. . .
Posted by Douglas Wilson - 7/22/2004 11:27:02 AM"
http://www.dougwils.com/
[Note: emphasis is mine. SL]
No political agenda my *ss!
Hmmm . . . yeah, right. I'm pretty sure there's something in the Bible about lying ;-), but I guess ol' Dougie must have missed that!
For those who've not seen them, there are a series of ***political*** emails (likely just the tip of the ice berg) that went through Wilson's Christ Church at:
http://www.tomandrodna.com/notonthepalouse/Hearing/070904.htm
Please, please take time to read through them. Notice the names and the kind of things that were written & requested: campaigning, yard signs, and money donations. Compare & contrast that with Wilson's OWN words in his blog.
And PLEASE understand that those activities were *strictly* prohibited since Christ Church takes full advantage of tax breaks and other benefits for being a "church."
And, please don't forget that Wilson was up to his eyeballs in the formation of the Idaho Taxpayers (political) Party in the early 1990s, not to mention being in the thick of organized boycotts against merchants, and organizing *his* followers to force the discriminatory and sexist anti-nudity ordinance down our throats back in 2002.
If those emails, that campaigning . . . all of those organized activities *aren't* having a political agenda, then I don't know what would be! Doug Wilson for President? I'm sure he'd try to sell us a bill of goods about that not being a political agenda, too!
Just so that no one here can plead ignorance, I'm including the text below. I apologize for the length, but I think it's important to have the FACTS, rather than just Wilson's hot air & revisionist history, available:

Subject: Fwd: RE: Moscow City Residents
Greetings,
After careful consideration and prayer, I have concluded that I ought to run for one of the seats on the Moscow City Council. I believe that the results will be blessed whether God grants success or defeat, and I am very excited about seeing God move through this process. In order to make a quality run, it will require a great deal of prayer, time, advice and of course, money. I am writing to share my thoughts, and give those that are inclined, an opportunity to help in whichever manner you feel led to assist. You will (hopefully) hear more details about my thoughts as the election drawers closer, but I wanted to share some of those first-hand with you as that is always the best means of getting any information. If, after reading this email, you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me in the most convenient manner. Your feedback is one of the very best ways that you can assist me in this campaign.
My heart for Moscow is to see our way of life protected, and a strong economy that supports the many families that are here, and those that desire to come here. These at times can be at odds, and it will take wisdom to reconcile them.
A STRONG ECONOMY
Many of us know of close friends, children, or others that left the area because they felt that there was not sufficient work to support them in their careers. As our children age, they too will be faced with the question of staying or leaving. I feel strongly that Moscow has many of the elements that would support a stronger and more diverse economic base. This will mean more jobs in general, and it will mean that as one industry wanes, another may be waxing.
PROTECTING OUR WAY OF LIFE
There are many aspects that make Moscow a great community. However, if steps are not taken to properly manage our resources (economic, natural, and residential planning), we will likely experience the hard lesson of not preparing for the future. I would like to see the city prepared for potential hard times, and not encumber city residents with any additional tax burden. Simultaneously, I would like to see the city continue to look towards progress and innovative ways to care for the infrastructure, and community resources.
HOW CAN YOU HELP
If assisting in this effort is something you feel led to do, here is a variety of things that can be done to help. The campaign is well under way, so the need for your help is immediate.
- Pray God's protection over me and my family, and that He would grant me wisdom.
- Discuss. Please provide feedback on what you care about, and talk about these ideas with others.
- Register and vote. If you are living in the city and are not registered, I can provide instructions on how to register.
- Donate Time. There is a great deal of things to be done and my family and I can use the assistance.
- Donate Money. If you feel led to contribute money, that is very helpful. A campaign is an expensive proposition.
I hope that everyone will help in the first three ways. If you can also help in any of the later three, please contact me so we can organize our resources. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to working shoulder to shoulder toward the glory of Christ.

Subject: Moscow School District Levy Election Tomorrow
On Thursday, November 15, the Moscow School District has a stealth supplemental levy election to the tune of around $1.9 million. If passed, a house valued at $100,000 would have a property tax increase of
$100-$150/year. Please be sure to mark your calendars and to vote in that election. Advise your homeschooling friends who may not be aware of this election. The only polling place is the Moscow Junior High from 8:00 am -8:00 pm.

Subject: Kirker Business: FYI re: Paul's campaign
>From Paul Kimmell:
I would like to have some kirkers write letters of support on my behalf to the local newspapers. These need only be a few sentences stating that I am a decent sort of fellow and not prone to bad whiskey or cheap cigars. It might also help to mention I have been a commissioner for nearly four years and have served all of Latah County reasonably well and will continue to work hard for all our county residents. It would be good to mention that I am the incumbent candidate and this is for re-election. Please run this request by the proper authorities for their
consent and/or recommendation. I will be available by phone at the courthouse on Wednesday at 883-2272 or by e-mail at pkimmell at latah.id.us. The letters must be written or faxed but not e-mailed. You must include your name, address, phone number and sign the letter. It is best to FAX the letter because e-mails cannot be signed.
The addresses of the local papers are listed below. It is best to include the letter in each paper as they all have a slightly different readership. Deadlines are listed, after which the paper will not include the letter before Election Day which is November 5th. The sooner you can get
letters in, the better chance of being published.
Thank you.
