But Freddy would be a free agent next year and no way we can afford

And as much as I love Edgar (no, really, it is a sort of sickness 
w/me), I think it is time he retires and then he could be a hitting 
coach. Am bummed to see Olerud go but I guess manager's can't be too 
sentimental.
