How about a solution where all could be reasonably happy?

Let Vision 2020 remain as it is where any member could post news, =
announcements, opinion, debate, pictures of their dead ferret, etc.

Another list could be started for which only announcements without any =
opinion or comment would be allowed. If someone wishes to pursue this, =
there is one question: Who will monitor the content so that it does =
become a soap box?

Those that do not care to read our boring, insulting, sometimes sub-text =
filled, etc. commentary but want to know what events are going in our on =
community can belong to the announcement list. Those that want =
everything can stay with Vision 2020.

At this point in time, I would much prefer separate lists. I belong to =
a chat site, and something similar to this happened. Another place was =
created for the type of ad nasuem (SP?) posting back and forth like has =
been going on here. Many people who left have come back, the ones who =
want to beat a dead horse continually, can do so in their own place. =
They also have the room arraigned like the message board at the Moscow =
Food Co-op. When a person starts a thread, all comments stay under that =
heading. I don't mind deleting, but I have a TON to delete every =
morning, and get nervous I'll delete something of an important business =
nature.

    Tim,

If presentations are being given in two rooms and if one never =
enters the second room, that person may miss something of value.

In the case of Vision 2020, what topic people are discussing may be =
as important as know what events, etc. are happening in the community. =
Perhaps as a newsman you would find some value in this point of view.

Its not a big deal to me, but I prefer a single list. I have =
learned from both announcements and debate on Vision 2020 and suspect =
most list readers have also.

I am not sure, but don't the local ISPs provide a bulletin board for =
community announcements?

Thank you for your response. I guess this is one of those =
non-critical items where disagreement is, in the end, of little =
consequence.

      Wayne,
The separate lists idea was never about restricting =
anyone's freedom to discuss anything.
It was about the freedom to avoid the tiresome aspects of =
what has become, in effect, a non-stop spam list.=20
Is addressing the same "discussion" posts to a slightly =
different email address an excessive burden?
             TL     =20

          Visionaries, =20
A while back there was some discussion of having V2020 =
evolve into two separate lists--one for announcements, news etc. and the =
other for discusson on various issues.
                 Anyone still think that's a good idea?=20
