Visionheads:
Donovan J Arnold asks, “Can someone please explain to me the fascination of
knowing what Mr. Wilson thinks?”
Yes, Donovan, the Captain is at your service. In any other circumstance, I
too wouldn’t give a rip about what Douglas Wilson says or thinks. After all,
disgraced preachers come and go like farts in the wind. But Wilson is no
ordinary disgrace. He is an extraordinary disgrace. He is in fact the moral
equivalent of Osama bin Laden.
Consider:
1. Both men are ecclesiastical terrorists.
2. Both men have aggressive political agendas.
3. Neither man will stop at anything in order to achieve his objective.
So the issue isn’t what Wilson thinks. The issue is what Wilson intends to
do with his thoughts.
The recent controversy over the Credenda/Agenda History Conference
illustrates the point. Douglas Wilson compared this conflict to the Battle
of Agincourt. Even more incredible, he declared victory over the Palouse and
instructed his congregation to “pursue” the enemy. Yes, okay, I know that’s
just plain nuts. But it’s also a big box of nuts because just like Osama,
Wilson has loyalists who would gladly wrap their torsos in TNT and
self-detonate at his command.
Therefore it behooves everyone to keep a close eye on Douglas bin Wilson. If
he thinks the History Conference was Agincourt, then we don’t want to know
his idea of 9-11.
Cordially,
Captain Kirker
