Touching the Void =AD =B3The closer you are to death. The more you realize you
are alive.=B2

Make it a night out on Friday, April 30th at the Kenworthy Perfoming Arts
Centre in Moscow. When the doors open at 6:45, fresh pizza from the Moscow
Food Co-op <http://www.moscowfood.coop/> is available for $2.50 a slice and
beer and wine will be available for purchase from the Alehouse Coeur d'Alen=
e
Brewing Company <http://www.cdabrewing.com/> . The movie will begin at 7:30=
.

Many community members have enjoyed previous PCEI sell-out movie picks,
Winged Migration and Endurance. Based on reviews, Touching the Void should
be equally entertaining. Buy your advance tickets now so as not to miss ou=
t
on this special fundraiser for PCEI=B9s Environmental Education Program
<http://www.pcei.org/education/> . Advance tickets are available for $8 at
the PCEI office, Book People of Moscow, Hyperspud Sports in Moscow and
Brused Books in Pullman. Tickets are $10 at the door, but our last movie
sold out before the event so don=B9t delay, pick up your tickets today.

Don=B9t miss out on the latest, exciting movie selection from PCEI -- Touchin=
g
the Void, a riveting film based on a true story of two mountain climbers wh=
o
barely escape the icy fingers of death in the Peruvian Andes. Two mountain
climbers set out, ill prepared, to tackle a peak in the Andes. Their journe=
y
is going well until one of the partners falls into a deep crevasse and is
badly disabled. He is left by his partner to die, with broken bones and no
food. The film explores the human will to survive against all odds.

=B3This is a documentary that, if there is any justice at all, should win him
(documentary maker, Kevin Macdonald) a special diamond-studded Academy
award=8AIt had my audience on the edge of its seats, lips parted, knuckles
whitened.=B2 Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

=B3Touching the Void is a very physical film. We experience the effort, the
exhaustion, the pain, the triumph without triumphalism - and it is a
breathtakingly beautiful film as we watch these small figures crossing
glaciers and climbing rock faces in the majestic mountains.=B2 Philip French,
The Observer
=20
=B3Touching the Void is one of the few films in recent memory that truly
inspires awe. This stunning docudrama from Oscar-winning filmmaker Kevin
MacDonald <http://www.reel.com/movie.asp?MID=3D138858> has the tragic grandeu=
r
of great literature, but this story of survival is all the more incredible
because it's true.=B2 Tim Knight, Reel.com

"Now there is a movie more frightening than my nightmares. "Touching the
Void is the most harrowing movie about mountain climbing I have seen, or ca=
n
imagine." -Roger Ebert, film critic

=B3Touching the Void will help PCEI pay for our education program.=B2 -Tom
Lamar, PCEI Executive Director
