I would like to commend Linda for her discussion of past attempts at
communicating with the community. There were some good things done it =
the
past, but as Linda says, that was then and this is now. Perhaps one of =
the
problems is the local economy no longer supports the general populace =
having
the time or energy to attend meetings. Community involvement requires
planning and an ability to make a commitment on the part of individuals
today. For example, Monday's meeting sounds like a way to communicate, =
if
the average working Joe in this community had nothing else to do between =
4
and 6 on a Monday afternoon. I suppose either work, or chores, or =
family,
or your kids activities can be easily set aside at the last minute by =
some,
however most people are already committed elsewhere. Maybe that time is
convenient for the council and the city administrators, but hardly for =
most
people in the city.
