I have long been an advocate for eliminating automobiles from the =
downtown core because I think that would result in a revitalization of =
downtown businesses. It has been a few years since I've had reason to =
go through the urban development literature but the last time I looked =
the consensus seemed to be that the areas from which the cars had been =
removed quickly filled up with people and those people had more positive =
shopping experiences and were likely to returnn to the area. =20

Just another view.

I agree with John. While I enjoy the Farmers Market, it is the =
elimination of free parking that concerns me most. Paid parking will =
hurt the economy. Further, it is a regressive type of taxation. I =
strongly oppose regressive taxation. This issue should be addressed and =
not ignored.
